Student Activities
At Hallam Union we run a range of activities which aim to enhance the student experience whilst at Sheffield Hallam University, whether through development of skills and experience or just enjoyment. We have a dedicated student workspace in the HUBs and representation on the Executive Committee through a sabbatical Sports Executive and non-sabbatical Hallam Volunteering and Societies Executives.
Hallam Award
The Hallam Award has been developed specially to recognise all the hard
work that you put in to Student Union activities which make your Union a
thriving environment. The Hallam Award means that not only do you get the
chance to record all of the activities that you take part in – you
also get proper recognition for what you have achieved! This will give you
a head start when you are job hunting after you have graduated.
Hallam Volunteering exists to provide students and staff at Sheffield Hallam University with the opportunity to contribute to the community through a variety of enjoyable, volunteer-led projects in and around Sheffield. There are loads of different opportunities ranging from fitness classes for older people to helping young children in school, and you will be fully supported by a Volunteer Co-ordinator all the way.
Here at Sheffield Hallam Students Union we offer students the chance to get involved with different types of media. These exciting student led activities give you as a student a voice, a place to show your creative talent, all of which will help you gain valuable experience in media as well as having a lot of fun. Below is what is on offer at Sheffield Hallam Union.
Societies can provide you with all the the activities that you need, adding that little extra to your university life here at Hallam. They are a great way to meet new people, to get involved in an activity you love and to develop your skills. Also they are a great opportunity to try something completely new. From Rock Soc to Mario Kart there is something here for everyone.
The Sports Union has the biggest membership base in the Union and offers anything from your traditional sports, such as Rugby , Football , Netball , to less traditional alternatives such as Korfball and Goalball at whatever level you wish to participate. If your sport is not included the Sports Union will do all it can to help you in setting up a new club.
Welcome to this adventure in making your life at University that little bit more fun, interesting and useful! Why Don't You..? is a host of activities that we thought you might like to try, whilst at SHU, and had not had the chance to before. The point of Why Don't You..? is simple: we know you're really busy and that you might not have the time to make a long term commitment to a particular activity, so we thought we'd help by arranging some one off sessions for you to try.
