Volunteer Co-ordinator - Kanyekanye Project

Salary: £20,736 (F/T pro rata)

Sheffield Hallam Students' Union aims to provide excellent services and facilities for its diverse membership of over 28 000 students. Part of Sheffield Hallam Students' Union's Member Services Section, Hallam Volunteering offers student-led, community based voluntary opportunities to over 500 students and staff per year from Sheffield Hallam University.

Hallam Volunteering is looking to recruit someone educated to degree level or equivalent who is committed to working in a student led environment, with experience of project management and awareness of Social Enterprise issues. We require someone with confidence and enthusiasm to join our dedicated and experienced staff team.

  • 28 hours per week (fixed term contract from 1st Sept 2008 - 1st May 2009 subject to review)
  • Minimum of two year's experience of working within voluntary project setting or equivalent
  • Experience of project management essential, with experience of running a business or organisation desirable.
  • Responsible for recruiting and supporting a team of around 40 student volunteers to support year 10 pupils in setting up social enterprise businesses in schools across Sheffield. In addition to this, the post holder will support a management team of volunteers to create revenue from the business transactions of the central Kanyekanye social enterprise.
  • Responsible for identifying future income streams and to produce an effective working model to be rolled out across other universities in the region.
