Adviser (Money)

Advice Centre Information Co-ordinator

 

 

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union aims to provide excellent services and facilities for its diverse membership of over 28 000 students.  As part of Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union’s Member Services Section, the Advice Centre provides advice to the students of Sheffield Hallam University on a wide range of issues including finance, housing, benefits, debt, immigration and academic issues. We are looking for two people to join our team.

Adviser (Money)

Scale 6 Pts 26-28 (£21,412 - £22,845)

(One year fixed contract)

This post will give advice in all areas but specialising in Money Advice. The post holder will also contribute to literature, workshops and awareness sessions for students and prospective students.

This post is funded for one year by Sheffield Hallam University through Widening Participation Funding, with an overall aim of supporting the participation in Higher Education of under-represented groups and reducing the likelihood of student withdrawal because of financial problems.

You should have proven advice work experience (paid or unpaid), experience of managing casework, together with an awareness of the issues affecting students from a wide range of backgrounds. An understanding of current issues in Higher Education would be desirable.

 

Advice Centre Information Coordinator

Scale 4/5 (£17,781 - £19,463)

This new post will provide a first point of contact for students visiting the Advice Centre, assessing their needs in order to direct them towards the appropriate type and level of information and advice resources. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of initial information, assisting self help and providing a referral service to clients.

You should be motivated with experience of a busy customer focused environment, preferably within an advice/information service setting and have the ability to adapt and work within a changing environment. An understanding of current issues in Higher Education would be desirable.
